PRO-INFO
Extended File Information Door

PRO-INFO Is An Official Part of
The PRO-FILE Professional File System Package
INTRODUCTORY NOTE
-----------------
Although PRO-INFO is included in the shareware version of PRO- FILE,
it can only be used with a Registered version of PRO-FILE. However, it can
still be run locally if you have not registered yet, to give you an idea of
what it is.
OVER VIEW
---------
PRO-INFO is a registration bonus included with PRO-FILE that serves as
an extended file information door users can use online to receive
additional file information not found in file lists. This extended
information includes the last date of download, exact size, uploader, and
estimated transfer time for any file.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
You must have the following in order to use PRO-INFO:
1) A Computer (Ha!)
2) 64k+ free RAM
3) Remote Access 1.0 or higher
4) Any Fossil Driver
5) A Registered version of PRO-FILE
INSTALLATION
------------
All you have to do to install PRO-INFO is add an option on your file
menu(s) to display a text file (Type 5) called PRO-INFO.Asc, and then
create that text file in your RA text files directory. The contents of
PRO-INFO.Asc are very simple.. one line:
C:\RA\PROINFO.Exe C:\RA\DorInfo1.Def C:\RA\PROFILE|
In case your printer or screen can't pick up the up arrow at the beginning
of the line above, it's the Ctrl-X or Alt-24 sequence. The first part is of
course the name and path of the executable file. The second is your RA
dorinfo1.def file and the last is the path of your PROFILE directory.
** YOU MIGHT NEED TO USE RACONFIG TO TOGGLE THE SHELL FROM TEXTFILES OPTION
-- VERY IMPORTANT!
Make sure to adjust the line to your particular set up. I don't know about
you, but I like to give the user the impression that this little utility is
more like a part of RA, rather than a separate or "foreign" mechanism. This
is why in the installation example, the text file method is used to run
PRO-INFO instead of the menu command. This tends to be more direct and thus
faster. Also, PRO-INFO was written specifically to be run from any
directory. If it was written so that it had to be run in its or PRO-FILE's
directory, then you would have to create a batch file to change directory,
and thus would have to load command.com, and well, that takes forever, this
is a 100% direct method of loading and should only take 2 or 3 seconds to
load.
PRO-INFO can be run locally by typing in PROINFO LOCAL.
PRO-INFO Security Restriction
-----------------------------
PRO-INFO gives you the option to restrict access to certain file areas.
To use this option, just create a file called ProSecur.Ctl and in it, list
all the areas you want restricted by security level. For example:
K 100
R 500
X 1000
The first line would restrict file information in area K to anyone who
doesn't have a security level of 100 or more. Line 2 would restrict area R
information to all users having a security level less than 500. Likewise,
the last line restricts area X information to users who fail to have a
security level of 1000 or more. You may have as many restrictions as you
do areas. ProSecur.Ctl must be in your PRO-FILE directory in order for
PRO-INFO to acknowledge it.
